A Renter’s Best Friends: Your Super and Your Tool Kit (Part 1)

By Nadine | February 25, 2008

super.jpgGuess who can be your best ally when you’re looking at an apartment. (Besides RDNY.com, of course.) Yup, the Super.

Many renters meet the building Super when you look at a vacant apartment. Many small landlords defer to the Super’s opinion about prospects because how you talk and act during the showing reveals a lot about you. So always be on your best behavior because you might need the Super’s approval for the apartment.

ladyhand.jpgIn large buildings, you might not meet the Super until after you move in. Savvy tenants make a point to introduce themselves as soon as possible because you want to be known as a friendly tenant. The WORST time to meet your Super is when you’re complaining.

A good relationship with your Super makes life so much easier. A cranky Super can really complicate your life.
